I've said for years that the extended shutdowns in blue states, on-line learning, cancellations of sports, doctor's appts, etc. was going to be trouble. (late diagnosis, mental illness, depression, etc.). Of course I know there were other problems. However, the supposed worst virus ever which if you believe the stats (I don't) killed 1 million weakened Americans or well under 1 percent of the country. This virus should have created excess mortality which immediately should be followed by lower-than-norm mortality since you effectively moved "profits" forward. It didn't. Mortality stayed very high even with a healthier in theory herd. This is basic stuff which your wishy-washy brain can't comprehend.

Life rates have gone up 2% in the last 5 years. Not a ton considering the increased mortality for a few years. Part of the reason they stayed relatively low is because actuaries believe that mortality is coming back to normal.
I accepted the mandate and got two shots. I have zero health issues and zero fear of health issues. Nice anecdotal stuff from both of us. Actuaries don’t care about anecdotal stories, they trust the stats.
1) I'm far more put off by the cost of flying illegals INTO the US than out of the US.
2) It's hard to believe the parents of Laken Riley (and others) wouldn't approve of deporting criminal illegals for $10K each.
It wasn't the just the old and weak. Early in the epidemic, my wife lost a friend to Covid who was a little younger than her. By all accounts she was a normally healthy adult.
It got Ken Snow too. Who is Ken Snow? The greatest soccer player in Illinois high school history, aged 50 or so. 4x-1st team All-American at Indiana. Ken had untreated and undiagnosed Covid and thought he could tough it out in May 2020. Really, not the brightest decision at the time considering the fear going around. Had he seen a doctor, I'm 99 percent certain he is alive today. That told me it was serious if left to fester.
Still, my personal experience was quite the opposite. I found out in August 2020 that I was positive for COVID A/B and was told by the staff that this result was 100 percent. For the life of me, I couldn't tell you when I had had it since I was very self aware of every single sniffle, cough, etc. that year.
So, yes, agree, it got some perfectly healthy, young-ish people too which should have further eaten away at future mortality, but didn't. The high rate carried on.
The fact he thinks "vaccines" raised the mortality rate is so profoundly and comically stupid that anyone with sense would not just disqualify this argument, but in fact every single argument he makes about any meaningful topic of public policy. Let's reflect on the actual data about vaccines and mortality a bit running from early 2021 to early 2023. Boy it's a real wonder who was croaking from Covid-19 during the post-vaccine era. Also, I've reviewed the data cited by anti-vaxxers about "vaccine safety" and while vaccines likely raise the possibility of certain health complications, we are taking about very low numbers of adverse health events.
Btw ... as the pandemic recedes, we keep seeing an improvement in virtually every social indicator, many of which turned the wrong direction. The murder rate (yes, the crime we can most accurately track) is cratering, and other crime rates are falling. Drug ODs - which spiked as the pandemic heated up - started dropping dramatically at some point in 2023. I'd expect all of these improvements to continue during the Trump term (and people will begin to appreciate them too), so Big Don can take all the glory for what is likely to be some real improvements in crime/health/other measures of quality of life.
