..and in other news

Gavin Newsom’s “the schools were closed for 2 years” moment. Habitual liars usually get exposed.

Also, LA county has had an issue with thieves stealing fire hydrants over the last year. Can’t make this shit up.

When we moved North from Jupiter Island back to NJ in September 1998, we travelled up I-95. Nothern Florida was on fire for hundreds of square miles.

Nature can be a bitch, planning for it takes long range thinking.

Pre-RDS !
Impossible that Fla was on fire! It’s green and rains so much! 🤣

God Desantis is supposed to STOP a hurricane from forming and hitting Florida? His job was to be prepared for the aftermath and by all account he did great.

Fires happen too - that's why you do preventive burns removing fuel for said fires, have plenty of water available, firefighting crews (both HOT Shots and local), and dedicated teams like Texas Task Force 1 & 2. Instead, they have high speed rail to nowhere, countless illegals, homeless epidemics, high taxes, etc. You and Jeff support this, but oddly enough, you both live in Florida! Huh.

Most of the damage resulting from hurricanes has to do with flooding, not winds. My point is that natural disasters are not the Governors fault or whomever is in office at the time. The blame goes back decades. Florida has too many people living along the coasts, living in flood plains, damage from hurricanes is inevitable due to powers to be allowing too much growth in the wrong areas. Same for California. They are over developing and in areas of or next to wildfire areas. What was wilderness and canyons in years past are now highly developed.
But pinheads blame the current mayor and governor, or Dems.(or immigrants)

California regulates a lot of things, and has done a terrible job of regulating the things that matter. That entire area is run by Democrats. Of course they deserve some blame.

Agree, natural disasters are not the fault of the governor. Neglecting your water system to the point it's not adequate to fight wildfires is certainly the fault of government.

More important, telling people where they can and can't live (beyond reason) is authoritarian statism which most of this country has soundly rejected (Democrats and Republicans alike). Only progressives go so far to embrace those kinds of ideas. Further, I can't imagine anyone in Pacific Palisades has lobbied for poor firefighting resources so where is the failure point? Is it not with the broader state government?

A lawsuit was filed yesterday against the City of New Orleans and a construction firm, I assume the one associated with the ballards. At least one other one is reported about to be filed against the city and police and probably whomever else they want to include. That took about 10 days after the terror event.

For LA, these lawsuits are going to be massive. It will be interesting who they file against other than the city of LA. I think the state will be prominently named given the water issues. Also, the fire near Pasadena was at least partially handled by the city of Pasadena. When money is involved, trial lawyers are like moths to the flame.

Water system not neglected. Designed for urban fires not wildfires. Poor firefighting resources is not an issue either. Wildfires are fought with airborne water drops.
Right of the government to regulate zoning goes back over 100 years. Can your neighbor open a garbage dump on his lot, hog butcher operation? You are being silly.

They are all immune from such suits, plus to think there is a cause of action is ludicrous.

They have already arrested one person for arson(you will move the goalposts).
Sure might be one or a few nuts, but they did not start the conflagration. Sure might be a few looters out there, a handfull have been arrested and the streets are being patrolled now, including National Guard. What is the point of pointing out a few nuts exist as they were not the cause of the huge wildfires.

I said nothing of garbage dumps next door. I was discussing where people can and can't live because that's what you were commenting on in your prior post. It's doubtful even Comrade Newson thinks people shouldn't live in SoCal. Are you even to the left of him?

And wildfires are fought with multiple means, including domestic water supply of which there apparently isn't enough.

Zoning, density, use restriction, conservation laws are all standard to every jurisdiction. You are really clueless on this.
