Earlier in the month Alabama offensive lineman Preston Mixon, Jr. hosted Illinois o-line coach Luke Butkus for an in-home visit and things seemed to be set for Mixon to take an official on Jan. 20.
He informed me tonight that those plans are now off the books and he doesn't intend on officially visiting at this time.
I think the Interest might have been there on his end, but it seems his mom desires for him to stay closer to home. When we originally talked about the trip he said: "My mom she has just been talking about how it’s cold up there and it’s a long way from home so we’ll talk about that a little bit more. And once she comes on the official visit maybe we can make a decision after that."
He tells me he has visits set to Troy, FAU, Southern Miss and Georgia State. Three of four of which are very close to his Alabama home.
