Let me start by saying I think Rick George is a slam dunk AD hire and I think that conversation is already taking place and the deal should have been offered by now. Now if Rick George decides he wants to stay in Colorado I can respect that and I really believe the Athletic Department should look at an option like Derek Throneburg. Before people go off on this board about how young he is and his lack of AD experience I will point out his time working in professional sports. He meets the U of I guy criteria but his real experience in organizations away from the University could be a great advantage. I am a realist and know most people won't even know Derek but just because someone doesn't have a newspaper connection to get an article written about them doesn't make them any less viable as an option. Actually I would like to see the U of I buck the trend and take a chance down a new path to jumpstart the athletic department with some fresh ideas and new energy.
