An early look at the projected Illinois football depth chart for 2024.
NOTES:
* There will be a battle for No. 2/3 quarterback between Leary, Swanson, walk-on Kirkland Michaux, and freshman Trey Petty. I don't think all of them will be back, though.
* WR Isaiah Williams could play a 6th season, but I don't think that is likely
* RB Reggie Love would be playing his 5th year. There's no indication yet what his plans are.
* Dez'Mond Schuster could start at either guard or tackle.
* Expecting them to add another JUCO or transfer offensive lineman.
* Gabe Jacas will likely move full time to the 5-tech DL spot.
* Adding another DL in the portal or JUCO ranks (or both) is a must. Huge drop off with Newton/Randolph departing for the NFL.
* If DL Demetrius John bulks up enough between now and next fall he has a chance to play early.
* They still want to add another DB. Looking at high school kids, JUCO's, and whatever transfers pop up.
* They will likely add another kicker. Preferred walk-on type.
