This affects us all

You should query Drano on what your initial response to my correcting your hatred of America World War 2 policies; he would have told you not to post what you think my thoughts were: "Facts not in evidence !"

I'm proud we dropped the atomic bomb. Strategically brilliant, saved Japanese lives (and more importantly American lives), and ended the war. It was also one of the greatest technological accomplishments in the history of the world. It also put the Soviets on their back heels to open the Cold War.

If someone could explain to me how Big Will went from confused attacks on Zelenskyy to a valiant defense of American WW2 policy I'd be very interested to hear it!

U-S-A! U-S-A!

NGL ... this US is largely on the "right" side of world affairs because we tend to support free peoples, free markets, free trade, and liberty. When we haven't, it's typically been a choice between a crappy dictator who likes us and is willing to ally/trade with the West and a different crappy dictator who doesn't like us and is typically a leftist/socialist.

The above is why I tend to support "internationalism" as practiced by the US. If we are fighting you, you completely suck. If we are supporting your enemy, you almost certainly suck, and your enemy probably sucks less. We are not perfect (considering, say, Vietnam's ultimate embrace of markets, its unfettered capitalistic instincts in the populace, and its disdain for China, we probably could have worked with the North Vietnamese on a shorter timeframe had the country's civil war never been joined by the US).

That I don’t know but certainly the numbers from South America are pretty high.
True that numbers from Venezuela are higher, but most are from Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, the Yucatan. I also believe many others from all over travel to Mexico and move upward. Our bigger problem is that Mexico won't help us, that is why we can't do stay in Mexico any longer.

Why would Mexico help us with immigration or drug controls ? Even if the cartels don't control all aspects of Mexico, which they do !

Other than illegal immigrant and drugs income the largest balance of trade , larger than oil production or other means like tourists is Western Union type $ transfers from family members in the USA to family members left behind.

I’m sure the CIA had zero impact on the elections in Ukraine .
The CIA has a less than stellar reputation since it was the OSS in WW 2.

The dissolution of the USSR and the falling of the Berlin Wall were two pretty big misses !

Matt has finally arrested the Kingpin of the scooter, cells/I-pad gang that escaped from NYC to Chicago to Tulsa and back to NYC. ALL illegal immigrants from Venezuela !

He is STILL waiting for approval on a car jacking gang in NJ and a home invasion gang on Cape Cod ! From the Manhattan DA or ADA !

More illegals, originating Country unknown at this time !
To follow up on this arrest. It seems that NYC should return to arresting fare jumpers and squeegee bums, like in the Juliano Mayoral years.

It turns out that this guy who boasted that the NYPD... ''wouldn't catch me in a million years" ... was caught when he was ticketed for a no helmet on a scooter violation in the Bronx !

Big criminals will be small criminals too !

Big Will, you made the arguments that the far right advances in support of Putin. Since Trump doesn’t make those arguments, I am uncertain how he plays into things here. Trump also didn’t oppose the recent Ukraine aid bill, almost certainly hoping to attract more centrist voters that support Ukraine.

Again, my FP views align heavily with those of Ronald Reagan. And poorly with the nationalist right. Not hard to guess where Reagan would fall on this one.

Huh, what happened to the "remain in Mexico" policy that was put in place by Trump and was working until Biden took over?

I gave you the answer in my post that you responded to. For them to remain in MEXICO, Mexico needs to agree and cooperate. Mexico will not do so.

The quotes in your post are entirely true. Congrats.

So, you are saying when Biden took over magically Mexico decided not to cooperate. Is this what you are selling today?
CNN on remain in Mexico

The Biden administration formally ended the Trump-era policy of returning asylum seekers to Mexico until their court dates in the United States, according to a memo issued by Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
Mayorkas said he had determined that the policy, informally known as “remain in Mexico,” had “mixed effectiveness.”

Cross Noem off the VP list. This book has ended her national political aspirations. I have met and talked to her. I thought she was very sharp. Being evasive about a lie in your book is a terrible look. I could care less if she met him or not. Just be honest or own a mistake.

The Stonedax doesn't like him, but the guy is America's best governor.
I have to say my family, Wife and 2 kids at the time, (1 elementary, 1 high school), did NOT enjoy life in Florida !

But do we think that RDS is slated for VP ?
They appear to have made up, from the acrimony shown in Primary season ! I'm for it !

Politician and Honest are two words rarely found in one sentence !

My Mom was attacked by some dogs running free in her yard and bit by a German Shepard. She knew who owned the dog and it had to be put down to check for rabies, otherwise the drugs given to humans are very painful, if you don't know that the dog is rabies free.
Mom was hospitalized and sued and collected around $ 5 K, IIRC.

The local Vet used drugs for the dog. My Dad, who was an angry person, had his .45 Colt ready !

Mexico rejects any effort to reinstate 'remain in Mexico' policy for asylum-seekers

Mexico's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Monday it rejects any effort to reimplement the controversial Trump-era policy known as "remain in Mexico" for asylum-seekers.
The policy, officially named the "Migrant Protection Protocols" (MPP), requires some asylum-seekers to be sent back to Mexico during immigration proceedings.
In December, U.S. District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk halted the Biden administration's latest attempt to end the program while a legal challenge, launched by Texas and Missouri aimed at forcing its reinstatement, is considered in court.
In a statement, the Foreign Ministry said, after the judge issued the stay, U.S. authorities notified them of their intention to restart the program.
"Regarding the possible implementation of this policy for the third time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on behalf of the Government of Mexico, expresses its rejection of the U.S. government's intention to return individuals processed under the program to Mexico," the statement said.

In June 2022, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the Biden administration had the legal authority to end the program, but it remanded the decision of whether the original memo that detailed how the program would end complied with administrative law to Judge Kacsmaryk's court.

"Remain in Mexico" was first developed and implemented by the Trump administration in 2019 and has been billed has a deterrent to preempt invalid asylum claims. The protocols have been applied only to a small fraction of overall border crossers, undermining claims of MPP's effectiveness.

Human rights advocates say they have documented cases of kidnapping, extortion and rape in areas where those subjected to MPP are sent. U.S. border officials and independent researchers note the extensive influence criminal organizations have along the border.
"Most victims said they were targeted because they were migrants," Human Rights Watch said it found in a March 2021 report focused on those stuck in northern Mexico. "The abusers often identified their victims by inspecting their identity and court documents."
Biden campaigned on the promise to end the program, which he called "inhumane."

THE LAST HALF.

"Donald Trump's "Remain in Mexico" policy is dangerous, inhumane, and goes against everything we stand for as a nation of immigrants. My administration will end it," Biden said in a March 2020 tweet.

After the Mexican government's statement was released, former Department of Homeland Security deputy general counsel Tom Jawetz argued that the DHS is not compelled to reimplement MPP because of the Supreme Court's 2022 decision.

"The Supreme Court was crystal clear that Congress gave the Secretary the discretionary authority to CHOOSE to use the return-to-contiguous territory authority at INA 235(b)(2)(C) and the lower courts were wrong to distort the text of the statute to compel the admin to use it," he tweeted.

MORE: Title 42 actually contributes to increased migration numbers, data suggests

A DHS spokesperson told ABC News that it would continue to fight MPP's reimplementation in court.

"We have consistently sought to terminate MPP and have taken that fight all the way to the Supreme Court. We will continue to litigate in court. Our ability to implement MPP pursuant to a court order has always been contingent on the government of Mexico's willingness to accept returns under MPP," the spokesperson said.

Good thing kids are resilient, I guess. Who cares that young girls are being attacked regularly, some people’s grandfathers came here with good intentions 125 years ago.

Yes. Only "deplorables" would vote for Trump. She has standards. She wants the guy who opened the damn border to be President again. Total bubblehead.

So, did Ole Joe end it or did Mexico stop cooperating? Trying to understand what you are blaming this on.

You originally stated it was Mexico that stopped cooperating.
