Right now, there are two groups of state of Illinois kids that the Illini are recruiting.
1. Solid offers
WR Ricky Smalling, OL Dalton Wagner, WR Isaiah Robertson, DE Jacub Panasiuk, DE Olalere Oladipo, DB John Mitchell, WR Juawan Treadwell, DT Caylon May
* Illinois probably leads for Smalling. Oladipo also likes the Illini quite a bit. Panasiuk at least listened, but that will be a tough one.
2. Prospects to evaluate in May / June
DE Izayah Green-May, OL Isaac Hawn, RB Ivory Kelly-Martin, LB Micah Awodiran
* They likely want to check the height / weight on this group of kids.
Others notes
* There are a handful of other camp kids to watch like TE Griffin Hammer, TE Logan Christopherson, WR Jamir Whitelow, WR Kendall Smith, etc.
* OL Vederian Lowe from Rockford is overweight right now - over 360 - and doesn't move well.
* Obviously, they love E. St. Louis WR Jeff Thomas but his academic standing is a mystery.
* As I mentioned before, they reached out to 4-star DE AJ Epenesa, but he is solid to Iowa.
* Illinois talked to Kevin Jarvis (MSU commit) but the feedback was so-so and he could not have gotten enrolled at Illinois anyway.
* No chance with TE Jake Marwede (Duke commit). He was going to an elite academic school, like many of the Loyola Academy kids.
