CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- The 2018 MLB Draft runs June 4-6 in Secaucus, N.J., with many Illini hopeful of hearing their names called. The first round of the draft will air Monday on MLB Network with the second round and next two days (Rounds 3-40) streamed on MLB.com.

Juniors Bren Spillane and Joey Gerber are Illinois' top prospects, along with high school signees catcher Jacob Campbell and pitcher Aidan Maldonado. Spillane, the first baseball player in Illinois history to win a national player of the year award, is projected to be a top-200 pick by Baseball America, MLB.com and Perfect Game.

All players at four-year colleges who have either completed their junior or senior years or are at least 21 years old are eligible to be drafted. Graduated high school seniors and all junior college players, regardless of year, are eligible. The drafting team retains the rights to sign a selected player until August 15 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

Illinois has had 16 players drafted over the last five years, including first-rounders Tyler Jay (2015, No. 6 overall, Twins) and Cody Sedlock (2016, No. 27 overall, Orioles).
