Why won't the local media turn up the heat on Whitman/Lovie?

I always wonder this with regard to coaches and Illinois - we always seem to hold on to losing hand way too long and our local media enables it.

The national media has put Lovie on the hot seat and the response from our local media is more of arrogance 'they're ignorant. he's going nowhere'. That might be the case that shouldn't stop guys like Werner, Asmussen calling it like it is (I am not lumping in Doug here because he has been more critical than most locally) - the Lovie experiment is a failure any way you measure it right now. The cute 'we are young' argument is falling apart as we have seen dismissals/transfer - Bennet, Dorsey, Thomas, near-dismissals - Boyd, suspensions - Green, Pate and some severe Sophomore regressions - Smalling, Gay, Epstein (sort of).

Will anyone ask Lovie Monday - "What can you tell fans who are doubting the direction of the program?" Does he care enough to have a thoughtful answer for that?

This reminds me of the Trestman era during the Bears except in the case media/fans wouldn't put with that crap. Clearly inept from the get go. Gone in 2 years.

My final thought - this seemingly 4-wins as showing progress is a steaming load of you know what. I expected better from Whitman.
