For those of you who have listened, what did Whitman say about Groce specifically? Reading the other threads, it didn't appear that overwhelming offers of undying support were made.
I have a theory that Cubit is going to get a lot more rope than people think, and Groce is going to get less. For whatever reason, I think Barb Wilson (who sounds like will be permanently put in charge of the school) likes Bill Cubit. I've never received the impression that anyone currently in leadership sees Groce as anything more than an extension of Mike Thomas.
OTOH, Cubit came through for them in a tough spot. Yeah, no one is going to laud 5-7, but we were legitimately competitive almost every game this season, and Cubit kept his mouth shut/put on a really good public face despite his own lack of certainty. There's no doubt that was appreciated in light of the Thomas/Beckman problems.
I think a lot of you need to rethink some opinions. It's 50/50 at best for Groce IMO, and I'm leaning against him if things finish out like we suspect (probably 5 wins, only 1 over a team not named MN or RU). Won't be surprised to lose to MN in the first BTT game, either. Best thing Groce could do would be to beat IU or someone that appeases all the people who are extremely frustrated.
