on you tube last night. When I posted the 3 vids of Moore, Lucas and Simpson, the next video that popped up was that and it was the whole game!
Some players of note that I watched closely were:
Josh Jackson overall #1 player in 2016. He has tremendous talent and averaged a double-double (19 pts/10 reb I think) in the U19 tournament. He got two fouls in the first 4/5 minutes of the game and was visibly frustrated. He is also taller than I thought and skinnier than I thought. He has elite ball handling for a 6-9 kid and could play almost all the positions. Not sure if he could in college. He's a poor mans Durant if he can not get emotional and work on his jumper. This is no slight but recognizing he has bball skill that few have at his height. The egyptians were pump faking and head faking all game and the US players fell for it numerous times, but they also blocked many shots too. In all it was a subpar game for Jackson but I can def see the talent.
Jalen Brunson - crafty with the ball and dribbles very well. Should be a starter early on. I can see him scoring some but he has work to do to be a prolific scorer in college. All the other intangibles though he has a + rating. IQ, ball handling, passing, tempo. Nice looking prospect and deserving of 5 star ranking. FWIW he's better than Yogi Ferrell at the same age.
Caleb Swanigan - He's a big dude. He has good height and he is pretty wide. Strong bodied kid that played pretty well. He got his shot blocked once or twice at the rim, which surprised me. He's not a high fly-er type but should be a rebounding force in the B10. With the way the B10 officials like to call fouls on big men, he's probably due for a foul prone freshman year. Nice looking prospect though. He's not a great scorer and I don't think he's a 5 star talent due to offensive skills not being quite where they should--> top 35? Yep.
Jayson Tatum - The kid looks like he would break a sweat bench pressing a pencil, but he is long and athletic and puts the ball on the floor like a player much shorter. He is similar to Jackson, except I think his fundamentals are better than Jackson and he hustled more in this game. He had numerous dunks in traffic and on fast breaks. I wonder if he is heavy enough to pull the rim down. The rim didn't move in this game when he dunked, but seriously...He's probably a 1 and done. Too much skill for 6-9. Just hope his knees are better than Shawn Livingston's. ouch!
Jawun Evans - He looked really good out there. Handled the ball well, passed it on time, played good defense. Nothing I didn't like out of him and I really wish he would've chose Illinois. Too bad he didn't b/c he would star here.
Harry Giles - man child that should do very well in college early on - 1 and done player. Hope the Bulls get him
In the end it was a blowout and the first game I've watched of this year's U19 USA team.
Some good looking prospects on this squad for sure. several one and done players
