Randy Edsall will be the new UCONN head coach, he was the head coach there from 1999-2010. He was 74-70 at UCONN ending his time there with four straight trips to bowl games. He then went to Maryland where he spent 4 1/2 seasons going 22-34 overall.
He obviously knows the atmosphere that he is walking into and has won there before. Surprising hire from my perspective considering the new AD was not at UCONN when Edsall was there. I'm going to go ahead and make the assumption that some important boosters wanted Edsall back.
If I were the AD, I would have at least made a phone call to Greg Schiano, Joe Moorhead, and Al Golden to gauge interest and sit down with them. From the sounds of it, I don't think he had much of a choice here.
