The Chancellor's search committee was named on October 29, 2015 but Killeen had yet to decide who would chair the committee at that time nor whether he would recommend hiring a search firm. An RFP for search firms was underway.

They hope to have a replacement by Spring; that would actually be fairly quick for a search of this magnitude.

After the board scandal, 2 president's resigning, the UIUC Chancellor resigning, the athletic investigations -- UofI desperately needs to get this search correct.
Since getting over the game yesterday, as a fan I would strongly prefer to just leave all the interims in place until we have a leader for the campus, extending contracts as necessary, whatever. I just don't see how they get the hires correct in this situation.
As an alumnus, I wonder that Killeen would just like the jobs filled even if he knows he wasn't getting be best hires possible ... he has other issues to address. And of course the ultimate hire could possibly care less about athletics and just hire a caretaker for the job anyway.
Tough days and I fear more frustrating days ahead for Illinois fans.
