watched replay of game today after missing most of it yesterday due to HIgh School game. Here goes:
*Game was a snooze fest for the first quarter. No energy in the crowd at all. I hate 11 am games!!!
*Dan Hawkins and Chuck Long went to the same school of announcing. Wow are they bad! Who would ever hire these goofs to coach their football program. His constant harping on the MSU JV squad and how badly they needed a victory was puzzling. Has he taken a look at the Illini injuries and depth chart?
*did you notice how many SPartans we knocked out of the game? When is the last time that happened against a powerful program like MSU?
*Smoot and Phillips absolutely dominated the poor tackles that MSU put out there. I mean ran around and through them at will. Boy they were fun to watch
*Jeff George Jr reminds me just a little bit of Kurt Kittner. I remember Ron Turner commenting after one of the throttling he took his freshmen year that although he we weren't very successful he made all of the correct reads. George isn't always accurate and neither was Kittner but got better as the game went on.
*i sort of like MSU more than most other schools in the conference (basically because they aren't Michigan, Wiscy, Iowa, or Northwestern) but do recall them rubbing our dick in the dirt many times the last 15 years and laughing while they did it. Found a lot of joy in seeing DAntonio looking thoroughly defeated yesterday.
*speaking of DAntonio...did he stay one year too long? Sure had the look of a guy wishing he wAs somewhere else like the NFL. All coaches have a shelf life and his may be expired. I'm sure they have some studs coming in but perhaps crazy Uncle Jim has taken the shine off of the Spartans.
