Texted back and forth with my Husker fan friends during the last few minutes of the Nebraska game vs. MSU.
Long story short:
One buddy was freak'n ecstatic -- pumped after beating us on the road and then handing it to MSU (his wife is an MSU alum and I really could've taken this post off the rails -- but I epitomize grace and restraint).
The other buddy...Tim Miles still sucks, MSU had an off night, bad biorhythms, he was almost pissed they won -- and anything positive he said, was followed by a negative.
I like listening to Colin Cowherd because through all the bluster, he does make sense HALF the time and is entertaining -- what he said late last week stuck with me: "there's 2 kinds of sports fans, want to/got to be right guy -- and -- the other guy who just wants to get it right.
The difference being, one guy has an agenda, and no matter what you show him, info you give him, facts or data, he'll just fight it or not accept it because his opinion just has to be right. You show the same info to the other guy, he just might change his mind based on the information (and we suck, and only recruit wings is not information).
But it's kind of like I've done with Groce now, until I see something different out of him. Time to finally acknowledge the info at hand...last night was the final "holding out hope" game for me.
Either get him a TOP assistant that used to be a head coach (those do exist), a mentor, a role model, something...or make a move. But damn it would be so much easier if all I got was mad about it. Dejected is more like it...
