I like Groce. I think he has the right disposition, media savvy, and leadership skills to be a fantastic head coach.
The problem is that he is proving to be an average recruiter and a below average coach. That combination just doesn't work in the B1G. If you are excellent at one or the other, you have a chance to win a little, although it is tough to sustain. But, without either, you are staring at bottom half of the league and NCAA bubble every year. That simply is not good enough for Illinois.
