Although I wasn't ecstatic about the 2 year extension for Cubit I think we finally have someone who can be a coach and get this program on solid ground. I would have preferred a 4-year deal to show some commitment. But if Cubit does well next year I would hope they would think about giving him a 2 year extension and riding it out. The man knows football and the staff he is putting together shows it. I think are best course is Cubit does well next year, extend him get Illini football back to at least respectable and then hand the reigns to a young up and comer maybe even his son. I like the class he is putting together and with Dudek back next year and the schedule I don't see why we couldn't go 7-5 or dare I say 8-4. Although the process in looking for a AD has been a joke I am glad they did one thing right and extend Cubit at least for the time being. I think we are starting the long road to respectability.
