posted this in the Simpson thread, but since it would be a totally different discussion, thought i would post it as its own thread:

question to stir a discussion:

WOULD DEON THOMAS MAKE A GOOD HC HIRE IF THEY ARE LOOKING FOR A NEW HC NEXT SEASON??

positives:
1. played at IL; all-time leading scorer so he carries the passion and pride of being a former player
2. from chicago/played at Simeon, so he can also sell that to all the chicago hype machine/parents
3. cousins with Irvins, Mullins is a fan i do believe
4. Head coach at JUCO along with being A.D. (worked with budgets before), and has recruited across the country for 5 years
5. Would absolutely bring in other former IL players that would fit the bill (i.e. Dee/Powell) or maybe even Rob Smith?
6. Was an assistant at UIC
7. Played in the NBA

negatives:
1. no head coaching experience outside the JUCO ranks (granted some JUCO programs can beat some mid major programs)

Curious to hear this discussion. Because you have a list with tons of reasons why he would be a GREAT hire, but one big reason where maybe he wouldn't.

Do 7 positives outweigh the 1 glaring negative?
