I had a good chat with our Wyoming Rivals site publisher Ian McMackin. There are quite a few similarities between the two teams.

Wyoming had a veteran team last year, and they underachieved going just 2-6 in the Mountain West. They lost a ton of players to graduation with just 5 total starters back.

Head coach Craig Bohl is one of the guys that built North Dakota State into and FCS super-power. He likes to establish the run. Again, similar to Illinois.

Bohl is similar to Bielema in that the offense is geared around establishing the run. They have an outstanding running back in junior Titus Swen. He's preseason all MW, rushed for 785 yards last year.

Josh Allen isn't walking through that door, but Wyoming did add transfer QB in Andrew Peasly from Utah State. Big dude at 6-5, 240 pounds and is considered a dual-threat.

O-line is nearly completely rebuilt. The lone returning player is right tackle Frank Krum. He's an all WC type.

It would be a rough year for the Cowboys defensively. Just two starters return for a unit was middle of the pack in the WC last yet.

The guys to watch are LB Easton Gibbs and DT Cole Godbout.

DeVito should have plenty of time to throw. The Cowboys were 11th in the MW in sacks a year ago.

The opening betting line is Illinois -10.5. O/U is 44.5. The Illini should be able to score plenty of points.

Here are some camp notes from Ian.
