Wisconsin is sitting at 16-10, 8-5 with four really bad loses to under 100 RPI types. They are a bubble team and another lose to a bad team would almost eliminate them from the NCAA. The B10 gets more revenue, more exposure and more interest in the B10 Network with more teams in the NCAA. The refs know this. The refs get paid per game. They get paid more for B10 games than they do for non P5 conference games, something like $1000 versus $2500 per game difference. They get paid more for B10 tournament games and the NCAA games. They get jobs by assignment by and recommendations from the B10 front office. They need to keep the front office happy to get work.
I am not calling refs crooks, but it is only nature for them to look after themselves and make as much money as possible.
Is this thought pattern reasonable?
