With a daughter who is a freshman at Rockford Auburn, I'll be sitting in the stands for their games this year and the next three. Last week, I had the chance to watch Illinois commit Jawuane Parchman, as well as a couple of other prospects. Parchman had a solid game, but his highlights came at WR. The team they were playing, Rockford East, attempted only one pass all night, so Parchman spent the night on the line playing the run. East spent most of the evening running away from him, so didn't get to see much of his D.
Junior prospect Vederian Lowe was fun to watch. He has an Illinois offer, and if grades are good, he is one I hope they are able to lock up. He is a legit 6'6", 335# and can run. We saw him in one game last year, and at that time he seemed a little timid - almost afraid to hit people. Not a problem last Friday - he got after his blocks and took his man well out of the play.
The one that I hadn't heard a lot about, but had the best game playing for a very good defense was Senior O/S linebacker Alfonzo Lambert. A 6'2" linebacker, he really has a nose for the football and is a hard hitter - decent speed, as well. He may be a little undersized (Rivals lists him at 215, I've also seen him listed at 195), but could be a good candidate for the STAR. I'm assuming based on his offers (NIU, Toledo, SDSU, Northern Iowa) that he's a senior film kid for the bigger conferences, though he has been contacted by Illinois, Indiana, Northwestern and Wisconsin.
Doug and others - any insights into Lowe or Lambert?
