Obviously a successful running game requires talent, and more than that, talent that is suited to the chosen scheme. But how important is attitude and commitment? I heard it for years when Lovie coached the Bears and it did seem the running game would improve as the game wore on.
The risk with sticking to a heavy dose of running early in a game when not having much success is falling behind and having to throw a bunch when the defense knows it's coming. I guess what I'm saying is a good defense is also critical to a successful running game.
