was bad, there's certainly nothing like this article out there regarding him. Lots of parallels between Texas and Illinois athletics over the past 5-6 years (old AD lets things get stale, "change agent" comes in and fires coaches, and lots of ill will is generated), but I'm pretty sure Thomas has avoided most of the laundry list complaints identified here.

Btw, the writer is Chip Brown, the one that led the way on the expansion story at Texas when it things blew up a few years back.

In addition, the AD at issue is Steve Patterson, who is not very well liked by those he left behind in Houston (Rockets) and Portland (Trailblazers) during his front office tenures with those clubs.
