Pete Roley was named Director of Football Operations at Illinois, head coach Bret Bielema announced. Roley comes to Champaign from North Carolina State, where he had worked for the football program since 2013.

Roley was NC State's Director of Football Operations since the spring of 2019, after previously serving as Associate Director of Football Operations beginning in 2015. He had previously served as the Wolfpack football team's Director of Social Media and Recruiting Marketing from 2013-15.
Roley served as the Assistant Director of Football Operations under Dave Doeren at Northern Illinois from 2011-13, and prior to that spent a season at NIU under head coach Jerry Kill handling all of the staff's video needs.
A 2008 graduate of Western Illinois University, Roley was the back-up quarterback for the Leathernecks. He earned his undergraduate degree in finance and spent a short time playing for the St. Louis Rage of the Arena Football League.
Roley coached the tight ends and worked on the operations staff at his alma mater while pursuing his master's degree. He graduated with a master's in sports management from Western Illinois in 2010.
The North Aurora, Illinois, native and his wife, the former Anna Harkness have two sons, Mason James and Colton Paul.
