NBA requests the draft to be pushed back

i understand NBA teams wanting the draft to happen after the season, but the final day could be as late as Labor Day.

If the draft occurs in September.....How does a college team/coach prepare?
Leave a scholarship open with the Hope a player returns?
Fill the scholarship with another player?
