I'm sitting in a bar in Christchurch, New Zealand and there is live sports on the television. It's a Rugby League game from Australia (Canberra vs. Newcastle), and I barely understand the rules, but I'm glued to it anyway. It feels normal and that feels great. My family's adventure in New Zealand is ending as our visas are expiring in July and it is impossible to get new ones in this strange new world, but we're lucky that my company found a job for me in Ohio. On the plus side, I'll get to go to some Illini games again, at least I hope that will still be a thing people do in the future.
Pretty funny, this rugby game has no fans, but they have cardboard cutouts of people in the seats. But only the first 3 rows and only every other seat.
