If John Groce sits down with Morgan Park's Marcus LoVett and doesn't
emphasize the UI as a short-term preparation for the NBA, the Illini
coach is living in the past - and he'd be denying the impact of runaway
cultural momentum.

For great prospects, the recruiting pitch has shifted.

Check with John Calipari. He is the Bill Gates of recruiting. He showed us the way in this dramatic culture change.

Maybe
it's an exaggerated story - composed by Yogi Berra's agent - but the
Kentucky coach reportedly told freshman Tyler Ulis, "If you want to be
here four years, we don't want you."

.....

"I look at it from the players' standpoint," Izzo said. "I know
everybody says the coach wants them to stay. I don't care if a kid
stays. In fact, if he goes, it's better for my recruiting.

"If
you want the truth, if I had a chance to win the national championship
or get a kid in the lottery, the lottery is more important than the
national championship."
