UNC is going to have a really good basketball team this year. Academic fraud investigation is going on and UNC is supposed to respond by August 10. Process will affect this year's basketball team if they are involved, which is known that they are.
So UNC self reports recruiting violations in Men's Soccer and Women's basketball, stating they are looking into it and will file a report in Spring of 2016 with the NCAA, delaying their response to the original allegations. I read the local paper as saying the new report will be April, 2016. Another words, a message to the NCAA to keep their hands off the 2015-16 basketball season.
The NCAA should not allow UNC to tie the two together. Announce the sanctions for the academic fraud, then deal with the other two violations as lack of institutional control as second offenses.
Total ridiculous if UNC gets away with this.
