This is the first thread I have ever posted. I graduated from U of I in 1974, and I went thru some of the darkest days in Illinois sports. The slush fund was just over, Harv had got fired. Weatherspoon, and Conner were good kids but went about .500. It would get worse, No 3 stars even during the early 1970, and Rick Smitech was our best playe4 in 74, from St Jo Ogdon. Gene Bartow was hired from UAB, Memphis and stayed one year before going to UCLA. I never thought the program would get further down that at that time. It has, and it is time for Whitman to can Groce.. The old graduates are ashame to even wear a U of I tee or sweatshirt.
