Champaign, ILL.– Fighting Illini senior guard Trent Frazier has been named one of 30 candidates for the Senior CLASS Award in Div. I men's basketball.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School ®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.

Frazier is considered to be the heart and soul of the Fighting Illini. He has been a part of the program's rebuild from the beginning, which culminated in Illinois winning the Big Ten Tournament and earning a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament last season.

During his time at Illinois, Frazier's role has evolved. He came to school known as an offensive threat. Along with that scoring and shooting prowess, he has also developed into one of the top defensive guards in the country. He is well respected by all in the program for his willingness to do whatever is asked and take on any challenge.

Frazier returned for his fifth season to complete his degree and is motivated to become the first in his family to graduate college.

Frazier's career with Illinois has been one for the record books. He was named to the 2021 Big Ten All-Defensive Team and is a three-time All-Big Ten honorable mention selection. He also was named to the 2018 Big Ten All-Freshman Team.

Frazier sits near the top of the Fighting Illini career leaders in multiple categories, currently ranking 13th in school history in scoring, fourth in made 3-pointers, and seventh in steals. He has started on the winningest Big Ten season and two-year conference run in Illinois history, and has helped lead the Illini to five straight victories and a 2-0 start in league play this year.

The Senior CLASS Award candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists later in the season, and those names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will then select the recipient who best exemplifies excellence in the four C's of community, classroom, character and competition.

The Senior CLASS Award winners will be announced during the 2022 NCAA Men's Final Four® and NCAA Women's Final Four® this spring.
