You should be happy then since you are a Biden/Harris supporter. The reality is the Democrats only question with the Senate is how much they will lose by this year. I suspect the Rs keep the House - but haven’t seen much news on that one.

The damage is done, we agree. Trump has permenently damage people like you and Train. You actually voted for Harris this election, unreal. Anyone from Naperville not voting for Trump is a best friend of the commies.

You cite mileage standards and defend the unelected regulatory state - the biggest problem in the USA. Actual conservatives trust the market. Hybrids have a place because some people want them and can afford them. High mileage vehicles have a natural place because a lot of people demand them. You really have become a commie who does not trust the free market.
The free market is not perfect. There are times when the government has to step in. Pollution is the perfect example. In the 1960s, companies were polluting nonstop since the costs were paid for by society and not by the company itself. The government had to step in to make the polluters pay the cost by requiring companies to purchase equipment to reduce pollution. It is about making the companies pay the full cost for their product. There are other examples.

Product safety.
Worker safety.
Working conditions.

According to your logic, we should stop conducting health inspections at food processing plants. After all if some bad meat kills a bunch of consumers, the company will go out of business. See the system works!

Any time society bears costs that a firm should bear then the government must take action. To believe that free markets can run unchecked is a fantasy.

No rational person believes in a free market system without governmental regulations.

It seems @JeffT818 has abandoned Stone and left south/central Florida. Smart move. Hurricanes are no joke and with several days of warning, the immediate victims (that is, coastal - direct hit) don't garner as much sympathy as tornado victims.
Hopefully all is well !

Worst things could have happened other than getting Rewards points from your Hotel stay.

Israel is not a part of the United States no matter what our elected officials say to us and try to brainwash us. This is intended to respond to attacks against the United States .

So, you are for freedom except when you are not. Because you believed the vax propaganda you believed it worked and the unvaxxed were health hazards when in reality it was the vaxxed who were the threat to you. The unvaxxed were the least of your worries yet you wanted them isolated, fired, and ridiculed out of society just because of your weakness and fear.
These comments are detached from reality.
Vaccinated people were the threat? There is not any data that supports this.
The vaccine does provide some benefit and if I were in my seventies I would get a booster.
I don't understand your obsession with Covid. You are literally the only one I know who still talks about Covid. The truth is that for the first 18 months of the pandemic nobody knew much of anything and that includes you. You had beliefs but you did not have knowledge.

Oh Jeff, capitalism made the USA, period. It self corrects - people like John Muir, etc., pushed Congress to create laws protecting the environment. A fair and free press can create positive change.

The US should be governed by laws, not regulations created by unelected bureaucrats. Nice try, but really weak sauce.

Jeff, I am smarter than you because I knew the reality of Covid within a month. The Italian data (old and compromised died) was there by the end of March 2020. My travels around America showed me the truth first half of 2020. A big time scam.

You and the vaxxed believed the lies: you won’t get Covid, you won’t transmit Covid, the unvaxxed will die. All proven false. You likely wore masks to protect yourself, LOL. Yes, Jeff, I had knowledge through experience and observation. I was not bunkered down like you. I worked in many states and PR. I witnessed government people ignore their own mandates. I swam with the masses at Universal Florida in June 2020. Life was great for those without fear. I went to Cancun in July 2021 and thanks to your moronic vote for Biden, had to take a Covid test to reenter the US. A Ritz Carlton could be had for $220 per night.

You love mandates of all types, that is how this subject arose. You likely sacrificed two years of your life hiding from the flu. Oh, and I had Covid sometime before August 2020 and didn’t even know it! So deadly only an Antibody test told me I had it.

Drano,

I saw a headline here that DJT is doing well.

UP 34 % since the beginning of 2024 trading, Now up 46 % in year.

I thought you may have missed this, from your last post on DJT.

My disclaimer is as follows; "I have never held ANY financial instrument associated with stock symbol: DJT."

President Trump can only thank the Democratic Party that along with collusion of various social media doxing of his accounts and his ability to exercise his First Amendment forced him to start the company, symbol DJT !
Adding Billions to his assets ! (Non-liquid assets are still assets .)

The truth in this post is as you remember the past, luckily other posters (like me) have better recollections of early Wuhan events.

No boosters, thank you. One stroke is enough for me, who is in his 70"s !

My suite at the KC Ritz Carlton was $ 150 a night in the 90's. I got a great rate because I would reserve the suite a month in advance, stayed for just under two years, slept there Sun-Thurs, but kept the suite the other days.

Kari was great last night! She espouses everything Jeff is supposedly for, but Jeff is offended by her. Gallego is the son of a cartel drug dealer who was just arrested again in Chicago in March. Gallego supports a continued open border - it certainly helps his family while it kills others

Wrong. I still talk about Covid. The vaxxers were actually the spreaders. There wasn’t anything about them that were vaccines. This “well my infection could have been worse” stuff is laughable. Ivermectin and the HCQ cocktails worked and were cheap. Getting healthy worked. Pfizer, Moderna, the drug Fauci pushed that was really expensive took Americans hook, line and sucker. The nut job karens who demanded everyone be vaxxed and have vax passports were not for freedom. For “the first 18 months” we literally know that Fauci and Collins were busy squelching opposing scientific views and the government was working behind the scenes to shut down free speech and actual science (testing of theories and always testing for truths) of doctors who had success with the HCQ cocktails and the “horse medicine” Ivermectin.

There was big money to be made by Big Pharma and by god deep state and the admin you voted for were going to make $ure of it. There isn’t anything believable about the vaxxes being helpful. It’s a vax. You can’t catch covid, if you get it. Oh, it’s a vax. It makes your symptoms less harmful and can keep you out of the hospital. Oh, the anti-vaxxers are the spreaders until all the data suggested otherwise. 6 jabs later, vaxxers have had covid 4 times and loving the jabs. Maybe for people over 70. Somehow all of my 70+ yo relatives made it, even the ones who knowingly got it. None of them were vaxxed. Zero.

How many more reports have to come out about the damage done to younger people who took the vax before you stop with this “we didn’t know” crap? Somebody had to come up with the policies that “encouraged” people of all ages to get the jab.

Pure hyperbole. Any nutjob can say something like this. The chances of this happening is nil to none.
It’s the Israeli finance minister not some random dude but let me ask you, what will happen to Gaza? Where will the people go? What will happen to the land?

It is pure hyperbole. It’s like suggesting that what comes out of Bernie Sanders’ mouth represents all of America. What he said was stupid and more importantly, it isn’t going to happen. Even the US would be dead set against the enlargement of territories into those other countries. The Arabs wouldn’t stand by and watch it either.

A good friend of mine is sitting down with Trump this morning in Aurora. He was invited by Derek Wolfe, former Bronco, who is speaking. My friend is a commercial real estate owner and he has some properties in Aurora. He told me last night at our daughter’s soccer practice. Couldn’t be more excited to talk to Trump about his experiences in Aurora.

We talked about being hopeful that Trump talks about the strains on police, housing, hospitals, and schools. Hopefully that is the message more than vilifying migrants that were promised a better life here.

Kari Lake had yet to win an election and she is trailing significantly in the polls this year.
Great pick if you like losing elections.

Trying to figure out if people were infected by a vaccinated or unvaccinated person is some wild pseudo science. If someone went to a wedding and there were 90 people vaccinated, and 10 unvaccinated, and that person picked up COVID at the wedding, the unvaccinated were blamed. Of course, the person could have gotten COVID from anyone at the wedding, because getting vaccinated didn’t stop people from spreading it.

The 3 letter agencies and Fauci did a terrible job. People were told once they got vaccinated they could go back to living their normal life. So recently vaccinated people went out and socialized regularly, spreading COVID.

The Israelis are a sovereign nation and the US should not interfere in their affairs . For example , the US does not want Israel to attack Iran and the Israelis should quite frankly ignore the Americans and do what’s in the best interest of their country which is flatten irans ability to wage war and fund their proxies. The Israelis very smartly have not shared their plans for the attack with the US. As far as hyperbole, religious fundamentalists on both side ultimately have more power than you can imagine. The Middle East is full of theocracies, including the Israelis albeit to a lesser extent than Arabs.

I understand your point. However, TJ is implying that vaccinated people were the spreaders vs unvaccinated people. This is complete BS.

I think once the vaccines came out, it flipped the norm. Everyone that got vaccinated felt free to go to concerts, weddings, etc again, and not surprisingly, we had a new round of super spreader events. Again, those were all blamed on the unvaccinated, even though the vaccinated started going out again in big numbers. They didn’t even tell people to wait a couple weeks after being vaccinated to go out. Just get your vaccine and you can live life again. Stupid, stupid stuff.

Old, and/or weak people got crushed by COVID the first time they got it. Most others didn’t have that terrible of a reaction, and still don’t to this day. They still don’t differentiate vaccine recommendations for 6 month olds to 80 year olds. It’s crazy.

Two things:

the country has not recovered economically yet from Covid, especially the service industry. We should still be taking about it and trying to learn from the massive mistakes that were made.

During the very first days of the pandemic rational people were saying “don’t panic, don’t shut down the economy, don’t close schools. Protect the most vulnerable and get on with your life”. Mass panic won, doing immeasurable damage.

I do believe there should be a Congressional Covid Commission like the 9/11 Commission to make recommendations for the next pandemic.

Were not the unvaccinated doing the same thing as the vaccinated? My only point is that I would be as likely to get Covid from an unvaccinated person as a vaccinated person.

Jeff doesn’t like Kari Lake - but the guy he does support is the son of a Cartel drug dealer who is FOR fully open borders and illegal immigration in mass. Dad was just arrested in Chicago 6 months ago, again. Old Ruben paid $800,000 to keep his divorce records sealed and just lost that case.

But, per Jeff, Kari is MAGA! That is disqualifying.

I wish Trump could speak more eloquently on important issues, but is that really a voting issue? One candidate will close the border and round up the criminal aliens. This should really matter to you.

All I know about Kari Lake is that she will likely lose again (she is behind by 8 points). Arizona has become a purple state: the Republicans cannot run an unqualified MAGA clown in a purple state and expect to win. Lake is actually a weaker candidate than Trump. You need a candidate similar to Youngkin (Virginia governor) to win in Arizona.

The Israelis are not invading Syria, Saudi Arabia or Egypt because this whack job envisions a bigger Israel. End of story.

Eh. You may want to rethink what got Youngkin elected. School board stuff. McAuliffe sides with the Boards/teachers. Critical Race Theory, etc.
