I was always of the opinion Beckman should be given a chance (5 years) to try to right the ship but really lost confidence in him last year. He was too much of a howdy doody kind of a guy, never came off well at press conference, lacked consistency in the program and I suspected something was up when he would not comment on injuries. Where there is smoke there in fire! Bill Cubit is the right man to pull the pieces together and begin to move the program forward. In fact, I thought he should have replaced Beckman last year. If Cubit can produce this year he should have the interim taken away and be named permanent head football coach. Too much damage has been done to attract a high profile or up and coming coach and until the administration commits to a winning program (admissions, etc) and put a competitive product on the field the spiral will continue.
