This was a really deflating game last year. Michigan introduces Harbaugh and has a packed house on a midweek mid afternoon tip off. They may not win that game otherwise.
- A lot of Ben Simmons/LeBron comparisons but to me, his game is a bit of a hybrid between LeBron and Anthony Davis, but a poor man's version of both if that makes any sense. His baseline production of rebounds, assists, blocks and steals is great, but his ability to score the ball really needs some work. I don't know if Johnny Jones was the right choice for his collegiate development. That team, with a healthy Patterson, Hornsby, Quarterman, Simmons and the addition of the Zona transfer Victor should be a top 10 team, in a down year for CBB.
- Any coach recruiting against Kansas should show the kid a highlight video of Carlton Bragg and Diallo sitting on the bench at Kansas. That coupled with Cliff's bomb of a career, should have some kids thinking twice. Perry Ellis has been a great collegiate player, and Frank Mason is a really really good PG, but there is no excuse for Self not getting them more seasoning against some weaker competition (even with Diallo's eligibility issues).
- XRM's numbers look good this season, but he's taken a bit of a sidestep this year to the Freshman duo of Bacon and Beasley. I'm surprised, I thought he'd be a big time breakout player player.
- Wouldn't be surprised if Michigan St. goes down tonight. They're probably not a top 25 team without Valentine.
- SMU is really solid. If not for the postseason ban, they may be a trendy pick for the Final Four. Shake Milton (a kid we recruited) has been busting out of late. He'd look really really good on our roster.
- Looking at the Big Man talent around the country, you're better off taking development guys and sitting them and adding in transfers. Rare are the Perry Ellis types who can be productive over their career and not leave for the NBA. With AAU guards and wings are so much more ready. It really stings when you have a development guy on your roster and he just doesn't put it together.
