First, total disclosure. I am an Illinois fan and TCU grad, All my kids went/go to TCU. In addition as a side note, I had siblings attend ND, I HATE the place. (Other than the grotto)Two years ago TCU was kept out of the playoff because they had a road loss to Baylor(top 10 team at the time) and The Big 12 had no Conference Championship Game.
Fast forward to today and the media gushing that ND needs to be in the discussion as a result of their beat down on an uninspiring USC squad at home. Now I know I'm biased, but ND is the ONLY Power 5 school that has the luxury of setting their own schedule. All other Power 5 school schedules are mandated by various impartial Conference Commissioners. In addition, all other Power 5 schools must play a Conference Championship Game. An additional game that ND is exempt from playing.
By virtue of the previous rulings by the Playoff Committee, coupled with a Home Loss to Georgia this year and being the only school to set their own schedule, would it be equitable to require any team not bound by the same criteria as ALL other teams to be undefeated for ANY consideration for the playoff? I'm very interested in the thoughts on this, because I'm amazed the National Media doesn't expose this most recent total play of the system by Notre Dame.
