Offense. The players on this side of the ball are young, inexperienced and shorthanded. They still look like they belong against good teams. I think the new OC has used good play calling, misdirection and scheme to overcome the problems I listed.

Defense. The players on this side of the ball are young, inexperienced and shorthanded. They look like they are out of position and confused. The DL has talent, but many times appear to just stand up and dance at the snap. Is this the DCs attempt to play contain? In my mind, playing contain(so a running QB doesn't scramble) is a fail. Playing contain doesn't stop a scrambling QB from running, it just guarantees you a loss. Did we blitz at all? The DC or Lovie have failed to scheme/ coach as well as the OC. This defense has too much talent to be embarrassed this bad.

Special Teams. There is no excuse for this team to lose this faze of the game. The Illini have more talent at P and PK than every team they face. Knowing when to kick or go for it is on the HC. Telling your All-American punter to change up how they punt the ball is a fail in my mind.

The Offensive Coaches take home an A+ in my mind. Well done and way to compete against good teams with young players, injuries and suspensions. No excuses.

With the other 2 phases of the game, we witnessed a major fail by the coaches. They did not put the players in a position to be successful. Let the excuses roll in...
