With both USC jobs open; Southern Cal and South Carolina, a likely opening at Miami among other power schools, Illinois is unlikely to attract the cream of the college coaching crop.
This being a Bengals bye week, I saw a segment where their offensive coordinator, Hue Jackson was interviewed. I knew he was a former Head Coach with the Raiders. He also has served with Marty Shottenheimer, Spurrier, Bobby Petrino, John Harbaugh and of course Marvin Lewis. He just turned 50, has coached primarily offense and special teams and is a disciplinarian.
Plus he would be a hell of a splash hire. Thoughts?
