Kendall Gill was just on WDWS SML. He talked about Illinois recruiting struggles and said he just talked to Irvin of Morgan Park a couple weeks ago...and Irvin said Illinois doesn't have the relationships there that they use to back in the day.
What's your opinion on this? Illinois recruited Moore and Lovett quite extensively last couple of years....so there had to be some contact quite often. Why would Irvin opine that the relationship isn't there?
Could that be more about the "type of relationship"? Does Illinois simply not play the Public League recruiting game?
Gill also said he thinks Illinois or Champaign...needs to get the state tournaments back. They don't have that mental connection anymore. He still thinks Groce is the guy....just doesn't have the horses right now. Thinks Groce should get a 5th year because of the injuries...but needs to have a great 2017 class.
