A Bruce Weber-coached team scored 50 points yesterday and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen. Anything is possible in college basketball these days so lets see what is in store for Illinois with a few questions for Brad!
Thanks as always!!!
- Rear-view mirror question to start. After Weber was canned, Illinois fans focused on Shaka, MAC Thomas flirted with Brad Stevens and then settled on - John Groce? Were there coaches that MAC seriously went for after Shaka and Stevens or did he just get panicky and take Groce because he needed a "Yes"?
- EJ Liddell. Illinois has seemingly been in good shape here but the kid plays like a really aggressive Miles Bridges. How far away are we from UNC, UK, etc. offers for him? Is he the type who wants to go to a blue-blood or do his own thing?
- Which player on the current roster do you think makes the biggest jump from this season to next after a year of experience playing in this system and why?
- Watching MSU play Syracuse and that zone D reminded me of Illinois against...well everybody that has played a zone against us since Dee Brown left campus. Illinois against a zone is like watching the Cardinals try to hit a soft-throwing LH pitcher - they suck at it always. Three different coaches and Illinois still passes the ball around the perimeter and chucks up a bad three against the zone - any thoughts as to why?
- Speaking of tournament games - Gonzaga - where do they find all of these foreign studs at? Rui Hachimura (sp) looks amazing; kid is from Japan. Have they essentially become the Duke or UK of international players (every foreign stud wants to go there)?
- Odds that Courtney Ramey goes to
- Illinois
- Missouri
- Texas
- Ohio St
- Ok St
- Late arriving blue-blood
- I refuse to comment on the grounds I will never hear the end of it
- If you had to guess today -- first 2019 commit for Illinois within 8 weeks yes or no?
- Giorgi Bezhanishvili - I can't even say his name - can you give us a realistic comp for him as a player?
Thanks as always!!!
