Big Ten Sends 10 Schools To Bowl Games

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Ten conference schools were selected for bowl competition on Sunday, including four Big Ten teams earning berths in College Football Playoff bowls.

Ohio State was the No. 3 seed in the final CFP rankings and will face second-seeded Clemson in the CFP National Semifinal at the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl in Dec. 31 in Glendale, Ariz.

Michigan, Penn State and Wisconsin also earned CFP bowl berths, with the Wolverines headed to the Capital One Orange Bowl, Penn State bound for the Rose Bowl Game Presented by Northwestern Mutual, and Wisconsin selected for the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic.

The full Big Ten bowl lineup is as follows:

PlayStation Fiesta Bowl (College Football Playoff National Semifinal)

• No. 3 Ohio State vs. No. 2 Clemson
• Dec. 31 – 7 p.m. ET (ESPN)
• Glendale, Ariz. (University of Phoenix Stadium)
• A Big Ten school will play in the Fiesta Bowl for the 10th time
• Ohio State is making its 47th bowl appearance, including its eighth trip to the Fiesta Bowl

Rose Bowl Game Presented by Northwestern Mutual (College Football Playoff Bowl)

• No. 5 Penn State vs. No. 9 USC

• Jan. 2 – 5:10 p.m. ET (ESPN)
• Pasadena, Calif. (Rose Bowl Stadium)
• A Big Ten school will play in the Rose Bowl Game for the 69th time
• Penn State is making its 47th bowl appearance, including its 17th as a member of the Big Ten; the Nittany Lions also are making their fourth trip to the Rose Bowl Game and third as a Big Ten member

Capital One Orange Bowl (College Football Playoff Bowl)

• No. 6 Michigan vs. No. 11 Florida State

• Dec. 30 – 1 p.m. ET (ESPN)
• Miami Gardens, Fla. (Hard Rock Stadium)
• A Big Ten school will play in the Orange Bowl for the eighth time
• Michigan is making its 45th bowl appearance, including its third trip to the Orange Bowl

Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic (College Football Playoff Bowl)

• No. 8 Wisconsin vs. No. 15 Western Michigan

• Jan. 2 – 1 p.m. ET (ESPN)
• Arlington, Texas (AT&T Stadium)
• A Big Ten school will play in the Cotton Bowl for the fourth time
• Wisconsin is making its 28th bowl appearance, while this will be the Badgers’ first-ever trip to the Cotton Bowl

Outback Bowl

• Iowa vs. No. 17 Florida

• Jan. 2 – 1 p.m. ET (ABC)
• Tampa, Fla. (Raymond James Stadium)
• A Big Ten school will play in the Outback Bowl for the 28th time
• Iowa is making its 30th bowl appearance, including its fifth trip to the Outback Bowl

National Funding Holiday Bowl

• Minnesota vs. Washington State

• Dec. 27 – 7 p.m. ET (ESPN)
• San Diego, Calif. (Qualcomm Stadium)
• A Big Ten school will play in the Holiday Bowl for the 12th time
• Minnesota is making its 19th bowl appearance, while this will be the Gophers’ first appearance in the Holiday Bowl

Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl

• Nebraska vs. No. 21 Tennessee

• Dec. 30 – 3:30 p.m. ET (ESPN)
• Nashville, Tenn. (Nissan Stadium)
• A Big Ten school will play in the Music City Bowl for the fifth time
• Nebraska is making its 53rd bowl appearance, including its fifth as a member of the Big Ten; the Cornhuskers will play in the Music City Bowl for the first time

New Era Pinstripe Bowl

• Northwestern vs. Pitt

• Dec. 28 – 2 p.m. ET (ESPN)
• Bronx, N.Y. (Yankee Stadium)
• A Big Ten school will play in the Pinstripe Bowl for the third time
• Northwestern is making its 13th bowl appearance and its first-ever trip to the Pinstripe Bowl

Foster Farms Bowl

• Indiana vs. No. 19 Utah

• Dec. 28 – 8:30 p.m. ET (FOX)
• Santa Clara, Calif. (Levi’s Stadium)
• A Big Ten school will play in the Foster Farms Bowl for the fourth time
• Indiana is making its 11th bowl appearance, along with its inaugural berth in the Foster Farms Bowl

Quick Lane Bowl

• Maryland vs. No. 23 Boston College

• Dec. 26 – 2:30 p.m. ET (ESPN)
• Detroit, Mich. (Ford Field)
• A Big Ten school will play in the Quick Lane Bowl for the third time
• Maryland is making its 27th bowl appearance, including its second as a member of the Big Ten; the Terrapins will play in the Quick Lane Bowl for the first time
