I would think most of us agree that Beckman has to win at least 6-7 games to be brought back next year. I think Thomas was ready to replace him last year until we beat PSU and NU. Critical year for him. In many ways I think his future is tied to the health of Lunt because the drop off to Crouch, a red shirt freshman, is pretty steep. The lack of QB recruiting in sheer numbers for the most important position in football is alarming. No seniors, one junior, no sophomores and two freshman., one of which was injured and basically didn't play his senior year in HS ( Not counting George.) if I were Beckman I would have taken two QB 's this last class and two last year or found a transfer. I also think they should take two QB's this year. The loss of Bailey was huge and frankly I think the staff did a bad job of utilizing a guy who OSU wanted.

Compare this to what Harbaugh has been doing at Michigan where Hoke also under recruited at QB. He brought in two freshman QB's a transfer from Houston and now Rudock from Iowa. 4 new QB's in a few months. There is a guy who understands how important the QB position is.

If Lunt gets injured again this year behind a suspect OL and we have Crouch and whoever else out there, I think we will be having a new football coach next year. If so hopefully the new guy will understand the importance of QB recruting.
