Beckman reached out to the media and asked for some support for the program, some support in the headlines as he tries to build the program. It's not really so unheard of out there. You see a very cozy relationship between POTUS and the mainstream media. That's designed and many certainly seem to cheer and welcome it.
Anyway, it was a very positive day for Illinois football and something Doug preaches on this board to his paying subscribers towards the teams, players and coaches. No repetitive ripping of the program, stay positive and move along.
The News Gazette's own Marcus Jackson couldn't resist, ripping Beck for his outreach to the media regarding the program in general. He certainly didn't mince words in his displeasure for what Beckie did. Right or wrong, he let it rip.
Oh well, great day for Illinois football all things considered. They were relevant on signing day and closed on a couple of studs. But his outreach left a sour taste with some.
The best part for me is as a reader (and subscriber to illinihq) is that I not longer need to read Marcus Jackson's articles either. That was the last one I'll click on. Not because of my udder fondness of Beck, but just because I thought it was a small minded approach to a article that was designed to bring more attention to the writer then the happenings on the players Illinois football signed.
Go Illini! Peace out, Marcus!
Really?
