Mark Few took over a Gonzaga team that went to the Elite Eight the year prior. Roy Williams took over a North Carolina team that had gone to the NIT the year prior, but had three top-30 recruits entering their sophomore years; the same 3 recruits that would carry UNC to a title over Illinois in 2004-2005.

I think the surprise to most of us is that we didn't realize just how crappy and dire the situation really was here.
