Passing Yards per attempt is a key statistic that highly correlates with which team ends up winning. Generally speaking 7+ yds attempt is considered strong.
Wes has only eclipsed that mark 3 times in in the 2015-16 and two of those were against Murray and Kent St. and then the other was @Iowa.
When the average is more towards 5-6... it generally indicates the QB is not keeping his eyes up i.e. his eyes are more focused on what is going on at the line of scrimmage perhaps missing targets down field, etc. Drops do also play a role of course it bring that number down.
Too much is made about how well Wes takes care of the ball in the air (with his minimal interceptions) - I would rather he cut it loose and throw some 50/50 balls to Turner or even Andrew Davis and let them make a play even if it means throwing an interception. Often times those interceptions aren't that damaging with regard to field position and you often have a good shot of draw pass interference calls.
